You asked for it, and we now have it for you: Our methodology for estimated attendance applied to the Women’s March on Washington in Indianapolis (WMWIN)!
We will apply the same methodology applied in the article linked HERE, please review for clarity moving forward.
What do we know?
Below are several images from the WMWINL
Run the numbers!
We will show the estimations for two (2) attendees per square meter, two and half (2.5) attendees per square meter, and three (3) attendees per square meter.
Minimum Estimated Crowd
Using this as our minimum estimate, we have an estimated pictured attendance of 16,416 people.
Mid Estimated Crowd
Using this as mid estimate, we have an estimated pictured attendance of 20,520 people.
Maximum Estimated Crowd
Using this as our second mid estimate, we have an estimated pictured attendance of 24,624 people.
What is our conclusion?
Given the images above (the crowd density appears to be between two and a half (2.5) and three (3) attendees per square meter) and calculations above, we will split the difference (which gives us a value of 22,572 attendees) and make the claim that an estimated 22,500 people attended the Women’s March on Washington in Indianapolis on January 21st 2017.
We welcome any feedback and all debate on our methodology and assumptions.
